House: American Series Review

Posted by rona at 7:38:00 PM
Lately, I started watching House, an American medical drama series which started filming last 2004 and is still aired on TV particularly on Fox Channel. It's one of the most popular American serial which a lot of viewers around the globe enjoy.

The title itself is driven from its main cast,  Dr. Gregory House , a genius in medical diagnostics which is played by Hugh Laurie. He is known to be a witty yet straight forward kind of doctor who is not very friendly with patients and colleagues. His personality in this movie is funny for me. I like how he pisses his co-doctors and patients and that he would have clashes with fellow physicians by his controversial diagnostic readings. He'd rather disobey administration policy and argue with  Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein),  who plays as the Dean of Medicine and Hospital Administrator, with simple issues like wearing doctor white coat in the hospital than being asked frequently why a doctor like him is limp. But  unfortunately, for the administration, they could not afford to fire Dr. house for he is the best doctor they have in the hospital. He may have this personality that not everybody likes him, but he has this true friend in Dr. James Wilson (Robert Sean).

Dr. Gregory house is leading a team of genius diagnosticians namely  Dr. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer), Dr. Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morisson), and Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps). I love it whenever they would discuss difficult cases during their meetings. House prefers to study really rare diseases/illnesses. That interests him the most. Their brainstorming of speculations, tests and interviews with the patients are remarkable. I was really focused on one particular episode about a 9 year old girl who's having cancer. The girl's battle with disease seem to end soon enough because her death is awaiting her. But Dr. House and his fellow diagnosticians did their best to save the girl from dying for at least few more years with her mother and even more and more years. This episode is very breathtaking! I was holding my every breath with the outcome of their treatment. They resorted to this procedure of temporarily shutting down the girl's body, (in short, be dead for minutes), and remove the third of her blood, freeze her to the best they could and drill the girl's skull to find out something in her brain. This procedure is tricky and could kill the girl for they only had 60 seconds to do it and reboot the girl back to life. Thank God that the procedure was successful. The girl was okay and came walking out of the hospital the next day. I was awed of this episode!

I'm still on its 2nd Season and according to Wikipedia, its now on its 8th Season which will premiere on October 11, 2011. So, I will continue watching this. It may be too bad that I discovered house this late, (which DVDs were piled in our collection for a long time now) but no regrets because I discovered something really worth watching for. Giddy yet yourself? Well, grab some copies for yourself then!
